Cognito was founded with a simple belief: students deserve better.

Since then, we’ve become one of Sydney’s fastest-growing education companies, with over 3,500 students supported through their HSC journey in maths, physics, and chemistry. In 2025 alone, 14 Cognito students achieved the top ATAR of 99.95.

The role

For the first time in human history, we believe that democratisation of personalised, top-quality education is possible. With the latest advancements in AI among other technologies, we believe we can finally close the bottlenecking gap of capacity at last.

As Cognito scales rapidly, we are making our online services and digital tools a strategic priority. To bring this vision to light, we are looking for a driven, full-stack product engineer passionate about building EdTech used by thousands of students.

At Cognito, you won’t spend weeks changing the colour of a button or making microscopic build time optimisations. Here, you’ll speak to end users directly to build genuinely impactful solutions end-to-end, working closely with some of the brightest, young minds in Sydney.

What you’ll do specifically

- Work closely with our founding engineers, designer, and end users to design, develop, test, and publish technical solutions and web application features end-to-end
- Solve high-level business problems by breaking them down into smaller, technical solutions
- Work with a combination of modern technologies and frameworks, including Typescript, ReactJS, NodeJS, ExpressJS, Python, and AWS services
- Incorporate AI frameworks and tools to enhance the digital services offered at Cognito
- Contribute to the technical vision for Cognito in developing meaningful and impactful EdTech products

What we’re looking for

Must haves

- Deep passion and love for building awesome products end-to-end
- Experience working in a software engineering team
- Passion in being an impactful contributor of a small team in its building stage

Nice to haves

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in software engineering
- Proficiency in ReactJS, NodeJS, and ExpressJS
- Curiosity in business strategy and leadership
- Proficiency over AWS services such as DynamoDB, Cognito, and S3
- Experience with, or understanding of HSC sciences & maths
