JH Carpentry is seeking a passionate and motivated individuals to join our team as a 1st Fix Carpentry Apprentice on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to launch your career in the carpentry and cabinet making industry under the guidance of experienced professionals. Based in Paralowie, SA 5108, you will be working on-site with our skilled team, learning the practical and theoretical aspects of first fix carpentry whilst earning a qualification. This apprenticeship will provide you with a solid foundation in carpentry techniques, building practices, and safety standards that are essential for a successful career in the trades.
Key responsibilities
1. Assisting experienced carpenters with first fix carpentry work, including timber framing, door and window installations, and structural carpentry
2. Measuring, marking and cutting timber and other materials accurately according to specifications and building plans
3. Fitting and securing structural components, including joists, studs, rafters and bracing systems
4. Using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively, maintaining them in valuable working order
5. Preparing work sites and managing materials efficiently
6. Following all health and safety regulations and site-specific safety requirements
7. Attending scheduled apprenticeship training and completing coursework as required by your training provider
8. Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure quality workmanship
9. Contributing to a professional and collaborative working environment

3. Excellent hand-eye coordination and practical problem-solving abilities
4. Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
5. Willingness to follow instructions and take on-board feedback for improvement
6. A commitment to health and safety practices on construction sites
7. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
8. Basic numeracy and literacy skills
9. A valid driver's licence is preferred
