About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to support the day-to-day operations of our horticulture division. Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing farm operations, leading a high-performing team, and contributing to the delivery of annual production, safety, and financial targets.

Working within a dynamic orchard environment, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on achieving optimal growth, yield, and operational efficiency, while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.

What you'll do

- Support the Farm Manager in the safe and efficient day-to-day running of farm operations
- Assist in implementing weekly and annual horticultural programs to optimise crop growth and production
- Monitor orchard conditions and implement best practice horticultural techniques
- Coordinate machinery operations, including preventative maintenance and safe equipment use
- Assist with harvest planning and execution to ensure timely and effective outcomes
- Supervise and support farm team members, including labour hire staff
- Communicate daily priorities, schedules, and operational updates to the team
- Step into the Farm Manager role as required, coordinating operations and team activities




- Assist with budget management, stocktakes, and reporting requirements
- Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and operational procedures

What we're looking for

- 3–5 years’ experience in farming operations, ideally within almond orchards, tree nuts, or other perennial horticultural crops
- Strong understanding of horticultural practices, farm operations, and machinery/equipment management
- Proven leadership capability, with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop team members
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with solid literacy, numeracy, and record-keeping ability
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, with the ability to work autonomously and step into leadership as required
