COMMUNITY LIAISON Moriarty Foundation Katherine, Northern Territory, Australia

ALL ABOUT US

Moriarty Foundation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) dedicated to creating a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children thrive and reach their potential. Established by Yanyuwa man John Moriarty AM and Ros Moriarty, the Foundation delivers two award-winning programs – Indi Kindi and John Moriarty Football (JMF) – that use education and sport to unlock children’s potential.

Moriarty Foundation is led by community voices and solid local relationships. We are guided by a commitment to compassion and equity to drive impacts that address community disadvantage. We prioritise local leadership and our programs are delivered by majority Indigenous teams.

THE ROLE

This is an important role for Moriarty Foundation in Tennant Creek. We are looking for someone who loves building relationships and can support our locally-led programs within the community.

If you are a good communicator who enjoys working with both children and adults and wants to create a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, we want to hear from you.

You will be an important part of our local team. You will work closely with the people running Indi Kindi and John Moriarty Football to make sure everything is running well across the community.

WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY

- Be the face of Moriarty Foundation at local meetings with other services and groups.
- Lead the Community Advisory Group meetings to make sure local voices are heard.
- Work with our Lead Coach and Program Manager to talk with parents, elders, school principals, and local clubs.
- Share ideas from the community to help us improve how we run our programs on Country.
- Keep simple records of meetings and follow up on any jobs that need doing.
- Tell people about our programs so more children can join in and benefit.
- Use your cultural knowledge to help us work in a respectful and professional way.

WORKING WITH THE TEAM

- Join team meetings to share what you know and learn from others.
- Keep the local team updated on what is happening in the community.
- Help create a happy and supportive place to work by following our values.
- Help out with other local activities to keep the team and community engaged.
- Take part in training to grow your skills and career.

ABOUT YOU

- A love for community: You truly want to help create a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people thrive.
- Good communication: You are happy talking to everyone, from little kids to elders and school staff.
- Respect for culture:

You have a deep respect and knowledge of local culture and how things are done in the community.
- Teamwork: You enjoy working as part of a local team to get things done.
- Organisation: You are good at keeping notes and finishing tasks on your own.

You will be joining a dedicated team that shares values and is committed to making a difference. We value inclusion and gender diversity and are a long term, proactive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employer, while also reflecting the broader cultural diversity of contemporary Australia. A positive team culture is the driver of all we do at Moriarty Foundation.

If you meet some but not all of the criteria, please get in touch as we would love to talk to you.
