We are an established nursery-farm and horticultural production business based in Virginia, South Australia, growing and supplying nursery plants. We are seeking a reliable Nurseryperson to support day-to-day plant propagation and nursery production.
Remuneration & hours
- Salary package: from $71,550 per annum plus superannuation (paid in accordance with the applicable Award; commensurate with skills and experience)
- Full-time, ongoing position
- Hours: 38 ordinary hours per week, averaged over a 4-week cycle (152 hours per 4 weeks), plus guaranteed overtime of approximately 8 hours per week (paid at overtime rates) - around 46 hours per week in total.
Key Responsibilities
- Propagate plants from seed, cuttings and division; pot up and transplant seedlings and stock
- Prepare growing media, fill trays and pots, and sow or plant out
- Water,
fertilise and monitor plant health; apply pest and disease controls under direction
- Prune, trim, stake and maintain nursery stock
- Monitor growing conditions (temperature, humidity, irrigation) in greenhouses and shade houses
- Grade, select and prepare stock for dispatch or sale
- Maintain nursery hygiene and biosecurity, and follow WHS requirements and use PPE
About you
- A relevant AQF Certificate III (or equivalent), or equivalent hands-on experience in plant propagation and nursery production
- Practical plant-handling and horticultural skills
- Able to work outdoors across a range of conditions
- Able to follow directions and work in a team
