Firms speak endlessly about "culture", "flexibility", and "career pathways", while quietly expecting senior lawyers to bill themselves into a mild state of collapse and generate half the firm’s revenue before anyone mentions Partnership.

They are a highly regarded boutique family law practice in the Sydney CBD with a strong reputation for sophisticated financial matters, intelligent strategy, and valuable outcomes delivered. Their work is complex, often involving substantial asset pools, business interests, trusts and intergenerational wealth.

They are now looking for a Special Counsel because the practice continues to grow through referrals, reputation, and longstanding client relationships, and they need another senior lawyer capable of operating with confidence and independence.

This is not a role where you spend six months proving you deserve quality files.



The work is already there. You will step directly into a strong pipeline of complex matters with the autonomy to run them properly, supported by experienced practitioners who understand that senior lawyers generally do their best work when they are trusted.

The structure of the firm is refreshingly sensible. Billable expectations sit at around five hours a day. There is proper administrative and paralegal support. The leadership team is commercially astute without treating every interaction like a quarterly earnings call. Lawyers are encouraged to build relationships and develop professionally, but there is no appetite for internal politics or presenteeism masquerading as commitment.
