We are seeking an experienced Application Architect / Technical Lead to join a major federal government program focused on modernising enterprise applications and cloud-native platforms. This is a hands‑on leadership role that bridges architecture and engineering, providing technical direction while actively contributing to the design, development and delivery of modern solutions across complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate high-level solution architecture into detailed application designs.
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Design and deliver Azure cloud-native applications and services.
- Ensure alignment of application architecture with business and technology objectives.
- Contribute to the development of C#/.NET services, APIs, Python workflows and Angular applications.
- Support integration and modernisation of legacy systems into cloud-native environments.
- Drive best practices across software engineering, DevOps, security and automation.
- Mentor developers through technical guidance, code reviews and architectural oversight.




- Collaborate with data engineering teams to support data platforms, pipelines and analytics solutions.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks while ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and maintainable.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise application architectures.
- Strong hands‑on development experience with C#/.NET, Python and Angular .
- Expertise delivering Azure cloud-native solutions , including microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Azure Databricks, Data Lake and SQL-based data platforms .
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, clean architecture and secure API development.
- Experience implementing DevOps practices using Azure DevOps , CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Ability to lead delivery across complex environments incorporating both legacy and up-to-date technologies.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

- Scientific modelling or geospatial systems.
- Legacy system modernisation and C++ integration.
- Australian Government ICT frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Large-scale technology transformation or modernisation programs.
