About the Company

This well-established, growing Australian business is part of a larger, multi-billion dollar industrial enterprise and they design and construct complex and innovative solutions used by customers requiring mission critical power generation. This includes both on-grid and off-grid permanent and standby power for clients operating within infrastructure, heavy industry, mining, oil & gas and large commercial buildings including data centres, military bases and hospitals. Clients include the world's largest technology, energy, utility and mining companies like BHP and Woodside. Their most recent growth has been in the hyperscale data centre sector delivering multi-million dollar projects for clients such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, NEXTDC, Anthropic and OpenAI.

Key Responsibilities

The Principal Engineer: Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) will oversee a team of five (5) people responsible for the delivery of key EIC packages of multi-million dollar power generation projects. These projects range in value from $5 million dollars through to $100 million dollars. You will be a mentor and coach to your team who are responsible for the complete engineering delivery of these power generation solutions. The Principal Engineer is the technical authority for EIC and you will set standards, assure design quality, lead delivery and commissioning and engage with customers.

Desired skills and experience

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEng) status, or eligibility within 6 months, is highly regarded.

Senior Engineering Technical Experience





Experience in electrical, instrumentation and controls design, delivery and commissioning, ideally in power generation or large industrial projects such as processing plants, mining or oil and gas. Background with a UPS, switchgear or switchboard manufacturer, with experience integrating new systems into existing plant, is highly valued. Strong knowledge of power systems, protection and control architecture and programming.

Standards & Compliance

Knowledge of Australian Standards for electrical and control systems. Holds legal accountability for engineering sign-off, and is able to supervise and approve designs, apply sound industry practice, and make informed decisions on vendors and equipment.

Project Delivery in Complex Environments

Proven track record delivering solutions in complex, safety-critical settings such as mining, energy, defence, industrial, hospitals or data centres. Able to manage projects end-to-end, coordinating teams, suppliers and subcontractors through design, commissioning and handover.

Influencing & Communication

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to collaborate and respectfully challenge existing approaches. Able to clearly explain the benefits and risks of different solutions, and build trusted relationships across all levels.
