Design & Delivery Director – Modular Construction (hands-on)

This is a build-the-machine role, not a cog-in-one.

We're a fast-growing modular and prefabricated construction business delivering accommodation and fit-out solutions for large-scale projects — and we're looking for a rare kind of leader to own how we design, build and deliver.

You'll take an awarded project and own it all the way to site: driving it through design, manufacturing in China, and delivery. You'll lead and unify our design team across Australia and our China factory into one high-performing unit, and you'll be the technical authority that keeps quality, buildability and cost under control at every step.

The mandate

Own delivery end-to-end — accountable for every project from contract award through manufacturing to in office delivery, on time, on budget, on spec

Build one team — lead, mentor and unify our Australian studio and China factory design teams into a single cohesive, high-performing unit

Run manufacturing — manage our China-based manufacturing operation: the factory, the production team and the output

Be the technical authority — set standards,



own quality control to AS/NZS, and drive buildability, standardisation and cost control across the business

Bring design and manufacturing together — so projects flow smoothly from concept to production to delivery

Who we're looking for

We care more about the right leader than a perfect résumé. You likely bring:

A track record on the Construct (delivery) side of Design & Construct — you know how to get complex projects built and delivered

Senior leadership experience owning delivery, a team, and commercial outcomes

Strong manufacturing / production discipline — ideally with offshore (China) exposure; a design-for-manufacture mindset

The ability to lead and unify a team across cultures and locations

Modular / prefab experience is a plus — but if you come from adjacent worlds (commercial D&C;, hotels and fit-out, DfMA / offsite, or manufacturing-led industries) and can learn fast, we want to hear from you

Willingness to travel regularly to China

Circa $170,000 - $200,000 + super, negotiable for the right person
