About the Company
The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) is a Commonwealth Government financier, providing financial support to advance the development of infrastructure projects in northern Australia and the Indian Ocean Territories. We help grow economies and populations and encourage private sector investment across a range of sectors including resources, agriculture and water, energy, financing partnerships, social infrastructure, and transport and logistics. We support projects that deliver public benefit to the north, through new jobs, regional income, business for local suppliers and Indigenous outcomes across northern Australia. NAIF has a $7 billion allocation of funds and has committed over $4.5 billion to support 35 projects in Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
About the Role
Join NAIF’s Portfolio Management team as an Associate Director, managing a portfolio of loan accounts across the full lifecycle - from construction and drawdown through to operations and repayment. You will be the key relationship contact for designated accounts, monitoring performance, managing credit risk, and ensuring client obligations are met. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will support effective portfolio oversight, credit assessment, reporting and continuous improvement. NAIF has a strong preference to recruit employees based in Northern Australia, reflecting our purpose and the communities we serve. This role is ideally located in Cairns, however we will consider applicants from other locations where this supports securing the best candidate.
Responsibilities
- Manage a designated portfolio of loan accounts across the project lifecycle.
- Act as the key contact for lending relationships and external stakeholders.
- Monitor client obligations, covenants, reporting requirements, consents, waivers and variations.
- Identify and manage early warning indicators and credit risk matters.
- Complete account reviews, including financial performance, repayment sources and risk mitigants.
- Prepare portfolio reporting, analytics and governance material.
- Work with internal teams including Risk & Compliance, Legal, Loan Administration, Indigenous Outcomes and Investments.
- Contribute to improvements in Portfolio Management policies, procedures, tools and systems.
About You
- 8+ years’ experience in banking, finance, portfolio management, credit risk, project finance, corporate banking, private equity or a related field.
- Turnaround/workout experience will be highly regarded.
- Strong credit, structuring, analytical and cashflow modelling skills.
- Experience with portfolio management or facility administration, ideally involving non-recourse credit documentation.
- Solid stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
- Relevant tertiary or professional qualifications, such as finance, commerce, accounting, law, CPA, CA or CFA, are desirable.
