Accounting Support Manager – Part Time (0.8)

Beyond Blue, a trusted mental health organisation, is seeking an Accounting Support Manager to ensure financial operations run smoothly, accurately and on time.
Overview
As part of the Finance and Commercial team, oversee day‑to‑day accounting across accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and general ledger support. Work independently on moderately complex tasks and projects to strengthen internal controls, streamline processes and support high‑quality financial reporting. Contribute to Strategy 2023+ Earlier, Easier, Together by improving the reliability of financial information.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage day‑to‑day AP, AR, cash management and general ledger activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and deliver consistent service standards.
- Identify issues, analyse root causes and recommend or implement improvements to systems, processes and controls.
- Review reconciliations, exceptions and stakeholder queries, resolve issues using sound judgement and escalating complex matters when needed.
- Support the Head of Finance and Commercial with reporting timetables, process reviews, system settings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and finance‑related service providers, including oversight of transactions, reconciliations and issue resolution.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to junior team members, such as the Accounts Payable Officer, to build capability and maintain high service quality.
- Ensure audit‑ready documentation, strong internal controls and compliance with policies and procedures.
About You
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting operations role.
- Strong capability across AP, AR,
cash management and general ledger support.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, timely outcomes.
- Experience improving systems, processes and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
- Robust analytical and problem‑solving skills, particularly in reconciliations and exception management.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain finance information clearly and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls and audit requirements.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence using finance systems and related platforms.
- High attention to detail, sound judgement and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience providing guidance or support to junior team members.
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, business or a related field (highly desirable).
