We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our growing engineering team. About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance or Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and optimisation of mechanical equipment and systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers, technicians, and trades professionals to deliver reliable and efficient engineering solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical fitting, installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Assemble, align, and commission mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical specifications.
- Complete precision fitting, machining, alignment, and mechanical adjustments.
- Carry out breakdown repairs and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to engineering standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and project teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
Essential Requirements
- Trade Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Fitter Machinist.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical maintenance, installation, and repair.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience within heavy industry, mining, manufacturing, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience with rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, or conveyors.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- High Risk Work Licence (Forklift, EWP, Dogging, Rigging, or Crane).
- Working at Heights and Confined Space certification.
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems (CMMS).
