Build the platforms that everything else runs on
At nexwave, we help organisations unlock value through data, cloud, AI and intelligent apps. As a Microsoft-focused consulting partner, we design and deliver practical, scalable solutions that create real business outcomes.
We're looking for a Principal Azure / .NET Consultant - who has spent years architecting and delivering enterprise-grade systems, and who is now bringing that depth into the AI era. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can move fluidly between deep technical delivery, client-facing architecture conversations, solution shaping and mentoring the engineers around them.
You will work directly with clients across government, corporate and enterprise environments, modernising legacy platforms, building secure cloud-native solutions, and increasingly, embedding AI into the way teams build and ship software.
What you will do
- Architect, build and deliver enterprise-grade solutions on Microsoft Azure, end-to-end
- Lead technical design and delivery across .NET, C# and up-to-date cloud-native architectures
- Establish technical direction, engineering standards and solution governance across client engagements
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
- Guide clients through cloud migration, modernisation and platform re-architecture
- Champion AI-enabled engineering practices - including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot and Azure - to lift delivery speed and quality
- Move comfortably between hands-on coding, technical leadership and client conversations
- Translate business and technical requirements into pragmatic architecture and delivery decisions
- Support technical discovery, solution shaping, estimation and presales activities
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies and architectural trade-offs
- Mentor development teams and uplift engineering practice, security and code quality
- Contribute to reusable IP and help shape nexwave's growing AI and cloud capability
What you'll bring
- 10+ years' hands-on software delivery experience, ideally in Azure environments
- Deep expertise in .NET, C# and enterprise application architecture
- Strong experience with Azure services - including compute, integration, data, messaging, identity and security
- Proven Infrastructure as Code and DevOps experience using Bicep, Terraform, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- A track record of leading technical delivery from architecture through to production in client-facing or consulting environments
- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or Azure AI services
What sets you apart
- You've led delivery end-to-end,
not just built components - from architecture through to production
- You're equally comfortable in the code and in the room with senior client stakeholders
- You bring modern AI tooling into everyday engineering practice, not just prototypes
- You're practical, adaptable, and focused on outcomes over ceremony
- You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping clients move from a broad problem to a clear technical approach
- You enjoy coaching and lifting the capability of the teams around you
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service or Cognitive Services Azure AI services
- Background working across multiple consulting engagements or client environments
- Exposure to AWS or multi-cloud architecture
- Experience leading presales and solution-shaping activities, including client discovery workshops, solution architecture, statements of work, technical proposals and commercially sound delivery estimates.
- Work on real AI and cloud projects already being delivered to market
- Join a high-performing, collaborative team of senior consultants
- Build with modern tools and strong engineering standards
- Receive professional development and certification support
- Enjoy a flexible hybrid work model and annual BYOD tech allowance
- Make a visible impact on both client outcomes and the growth of the business
