Security Officer

Employment Term: Two casual opportunities available. 12‑hour shifts, rotational shift work.

Location: Auchenflower – the hospital is located in a peaceful surrounds just 5 minutes from Toowong Shopping Village and 10 minutes from Brisbane City, with public transport easily accessible at the foot of the hospital. Subsidised parking is available.

Remuneration: $32.37 per hour, plus casual loading, 12% superannuation, penalties, and NFP salary packaging.

Responsibilities

- Operate the Security/Fire services monitoring room.
- Issue identification cards and maintain employee data files.
- Operate fire indicator panels and EWIS system.
- Respond to fire alarms and emergency codes in accordance with AS 4083‑2010 and AS 3745‑2010.
- Provide escort service for visitors and staff within the hospital campus.
- Lock and patrol the hospital complex and all parking areas.
- Investigate security‑related incidents and produce detailed reports.
- Respond to complaints and inquiries from staff and visitors, adopting a customer‑service approach at all times.
- Monitor and respond to plant and equipment faults.
- Identify risks and recommend improvements for the safety of staff, patients and visitors.
- Promote and maintain security awareness amongst staff members.
- Perform general administrative duties.
- Operate high‑volume car‑park management systems.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Current Queensland Class1 Security Provider licence with endorsements in Security Officer Unarmed, Crowd Control and Monitoring.
- Minimum 3years’ experience in security‑related employment.
- CertificateII in Security Operations or equivalent.




- Advanced computer skills, including MSOffice and security/car‑park applications.
- Flexibility to work rotational 12‑hour shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Valid manual open driver’s licence.
- Ability to work in a busy control‑room environment.
- Beneficial to possess hospital‑required vaccinations for faster onboarding.
- For applicants from other industries, transferable skills will be considered if the relevant licences are available for review.
