Our client is a well-established Australian business based in Geelong with operations across multiple states, known for delivering an essential service in a fast-paced, high-volume workplace. Due to increased workload and upcoming leave within the team, they are looking to bring on an Accounts Assistant for an immediate start to support a busy accounts function. The role will work closely with an experienced team of four and provide hands-on support across both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
The Role
This is a hands-on contract position suited to someone who enjoys processing, working through volume and keeping things moving. You'll be supporting the wider finance team with day-to-day transactional accounting while helping ensure invoices, payments and reconciliations are processed accurately and on time.
Ideally you'll bring stronger Accounts Receivable experience, however candidates with a solid Accounts Payable background who are happy to work across both functions are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Processing customer invoices and supporting the Accounts Receivable function
- Accounts Payable invoice processing, coding and supplier maintenance
- Allocating customer payments and receipting
- Assisting with account reconciliations
- Following up outstanding debtor balances where required
- Responding to internal and external account enquiries
- Supporting month-end transactional activities
- Providing general administration support to the finance team as required
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable position
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
- Experience working in a high-volume processing environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to pick up new systems quickly
- A positive, team-first attitude and willingness to help where needed
- Immediate availability or the ability to commence at short notice will be highly regarded.
