About the role

We are seeking a General Hand to join the team at Stockyard Transport in Townsville, QLD. You will be based in office at our Townsville yard but there will be travel to other sites as required which will involve being away for short periods of time.

What you'll be doing

1. Shadowing the owner and assisting with all day to day operations of a busy workshop and transport fleet

2. Driving the owner around town for parts pick ups and shop visits.

3. Operating machinery such as forklifts, bobcats, loaders (if qualified)

4. Maintaining accurate maintenance and inventory records and assisting with stock control procedures

5. Keeping the workshop environment clean, safe and organised, adhering to all health and safety protocols

6. Supporting boilermakers and diesel fitters and responding flexibly to changing operational demands

7. Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation

What we're looking for

1.



Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks regularly, including lifting, carrying and moving goods

2. Strong work ethic and reliability, with a willingness to support the team

3. Basic Computer, literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions and assist with simple record-keeping

4. Ability to follow safety procedures and work in compliance with health and safety regulations

5. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a busy environment

6. Excellent communication and teamwork skills

7. A current manual driver's licence is essential
