Casual Disability Support Worker – Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Nambour & Woombye | Casual Opportunities Available

We are seeking compassionate, skilled, and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team supporting people within our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes located in Nambour and Woombye.

Depending on participant preferences, support requirements, and roster arrangements, successful applicants may work across both homes or primarily within one location.

This rewarding role involves supporting people with complex support needs, including those living with dementia, people who use wheelchairs, and individuals requiring hoisting and high-intensity supports. While experience with catheter management and complex medical supports is highly regarded, training can be provided for the right candidate.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will work alongside the people you support to promote choice, independence, dignity, and meaningful participation in everyday life.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing personal supports and assistance with daily living activities
- Supporting people living with dementia in a respectful and person-centred manner
- Assisting individuals who use wheelchairs and mobility equipment
- Performing hoisting and manual handling tasks safely and confidently
- Supporting people with high medical and complex support needs




- Administering medication and following health-related support plans
- Supporting community participation and social engagement
- Completing accurate documentation and progress notes
- Working collaboratively with families, guardians, allied health professionals, and the wider support team
- Promoting each person’s goals, preferences, and right to make decisions about their own life

About You

You are reliable, skilled, and genuinely passionate about supporting people to live their best lives.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Reliability, professionalism, and initiative
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends and overnight shifts
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills

Highly Regarded Experience

The following experience is highly desirable but not essential:

- Supported Independent Living (SIL)
- Dementia support
- High-intensity or complex care supports
- Catheter care
- Medication administration
- Hoisting and manual handling
- Supporting participants who use wheelchairs




- Disability support, aged care, community services, or related fields

Training can be provided for suitable applicants, including catheter care and other high-intensity support requirements.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain:

- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Blue Card
- Current Open Queensland Driver’s Licence
- Reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Reliable smartphone with data
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You
- Working rights within Australia
