International Logistics Coordinator (Projects) – National
Stirlings Performance Steels | Location flexible (WFH or from SPS Branch)
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a full-time International Logistics Coordinator to support our Projects team — a nationally focused role you can be based at any of our branches or WFH. Reporting to the Projects & Indent Manager, you’ll own the movement of imported and indent material from overseas mills through to our sites and customer projects — coordinating freight forwarders, shipping schedules, customs clearance and delivery so that project material arrives complete, compliant and on time. It’s a role for someone who enjoys keeping a lot of moving parts on track and being the person who makes sure the container lands when it’s meant to.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll bring experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, imports or supply chain — ideally in steels, metals or industrial goods, though the right head for the work matters more to us than a perfect CV, and we’ll invest in teaching you our products and processes. A good working knowledge of shipping documentation, Incoterms and customs requirements is important.
What we really value is the way you coordinate. This is detailed work with real consequences — a missed document or a slipped vessel can hold up a whole project — so we’re after someone organised, proactive and calm under pressure, who chases the detail and communicates clearly with suppliers, forwarders and our project teams. If you take ownership of a shipment from order to delivery rather than passing problems along, you’ll do well here — and there’s genuine room to grow with a national business.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Managing International Shipments
• Coordinate the movement of imported and indent material from overseas mills to our branches and project sites
• Book and manage freight forwarders, shipping schedules and transport, keeping delivery timelines on track
• Prepare and check shipping documentation, Incoterms and customs/clearance requirements for compliant, on-time import
Supporting Project Delivery
• Work closely with the Projects, Procurement and Sales teams to align material arrival with project requirements
• Track shipments in progress, flag delays early, and keep everyone informed on where material is up to
• Reconcile deliveries against orders — quantity, Grade and documentation — and resolve any discrepancies
Building Supplier & Freight Relationships
• Maintain strong working relationships with overseas suppliers, forwarders and carriers
• Look for opportunities to improve freight cost, reliability and lead times
• Keep accurate records and support continuous improvement in our logistics processes
Responsibilities are not limited to those listed above.
