Meaningful work — social & affordable housing pipeline

Genuine pathway to lead and shape a growing capability

Family-friendly culture; flexibility is genuinely lived. Inner Brisbane | $100,000 – $110,000 + super | Engineering Consultancy

About the Culture

This is a civil team that works across a broad range of urban development projects — experienced, collaborative, and genuinely invested in what they’re building. This is a consultancy that treats people as adults. You’ll have autonomy over how you structure your day, flexibility to work from home, and a culture where fitting engineering around family life isn’t the exception — it’s the norm. A significant portion of the team are parents, and the flexibility that comes with that is real, not performative. Social and affordable housing is one of the team’s key focus areas — and it’s a rapidly expanding one. With government investment in this space set to triple next financial year, there’s a significant pipeline of work coming, and the opportunity to be part of building that capability from the ground up is real.

About the Role

You’ll work directly alongside the Principal, contributing from the earliest stages of projects — feasibility, site planning, fee proposals, and business development. It’s a role where your technical background informs real decisions, not just documentation. This capability is growing, and this person will grow with it. There is a genuine pathway here to lead this function — to make it your own,

shape how it operates, and eventually lead a team doing work that matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Working with clients from feasibility through to delivery on social and affordable housing projects
- Contributing to site planning, front-end design and engineering solutions for urban development
- Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development activity
- Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships — including government, community housing providers, and developers
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outcomes that improve housing access for Australians

Skills & Experience

- Degree-qualified civil engineer with 3–5 years’ experience in urban development
- Background in consulting, council, or contracting — you know SEQ standards and requirements
- Experienced working with clients directly; comfortable at feasibility and planning stages
- Strong communicator — confident presenting to and engaging with a range of stakeholders
- Organised, efficient, and motivated by work that has real community impact

What’s on Offer

- $100,000 – $110,000 + super
- Hybrid working — real flexibility, structured around outcomes not hours
- Family-friendly culture with genuine flexibility for parents
- A explicit pathway to lead and shape a growing social housing capability
- Work that genuinely contributes to improving housing outcomes across Queensland
