What you’ll do
As a casual Learning Facilitator, you’ll bring the Gardens to life by delivering engaging and inspiring learning experiences for a wide range of audiences, with a focus on schools, young people and families. You’ll create welcoming, inclusive and culturally appropriate programmes that foster curiosity and connection with nature, working closely with First Nations staff and networks to ensure authentic experiences. Contribute to the ongoing success of our learning programmes by gathering feedback and insights to support continuous improvement, while also assisting with planning, reporting and programme delivery. Working collaboratively across the team, you’ll support their capacity to deliver in peak seasons, build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, maintain accurate records, manage your work safely and professionally, and uphold the values, policies and standards of Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria.
What you’ll bring
Success in this role will come from a genuine passion for education and connecting people with nature,
ideally supported by a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in fields such as education, science, sustainability, community engagement or horticulture. Experience delivering engaging learning programmes for diverse audiences, particularly early childhood groups, schools, young people and families, will enable you to confidently adapt your approach to suit a range of learning needs. Strong facilitation skills, creativity and the ability to develop engaging learning experiences are essential, while knowledge of environmental/ sustainability education, conservation/ ecology, plant science or culture will be highly regarded. With availability to work at least two days during school terms and ability to deliver independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality outcomes. A team-oriented mindset, commitment to ongoing professional development and a flexible, positive approach will see you excel as part of the team.
