Busselton Water is in the beautiful southwest coastal region of WA and offers a desirable lifestyle and the opportunity to be part of the growth and development of our great city.
We are seeking a driven and experienced person to join our Service Delivery team. In this full‑time role, you will be responsible for maintaining water treatment and supply network assets, ensuring the consistent delivery of high‑quality drinking water to the Busselton community. This position is based in Busselton, Western Australia.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor and maintain Busselton Water’s water supply network and treatment assets, including bore fields, water treatment plants, reticulation and delivery mains, hydrants, customer service connections, chlorine facilities and associated infrastructure.
- Operate water treatment plant equipment and SCADA systems to ensure the reliable delivery of safe, high‑quality drinking water that complies with relevant licences, the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) and operational requirements.
- Undertake routine inspections, condition assessments and performance monitoring of treatment and network assets; identify and report maintenance, repair or replacement requirements in accordance with operational procedures.
- Undertake routine water quality sampling in accordance with operational procedures and ADWG.
- Perform construction, maintenance and repair activities across water treatment and distribution infrastructure, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
- Respond promptly to operational incidents, service interruptions, customer‑reported faults and emergencies, including participation in Busselton Water’s after‑hours on‑call roster.
- Liaise professionally with customers, contractors, regulatory authorities and the public regarding operational works, maintenance activities, service faults,
complaints and water supply issues.
- Support senior staff and collaborate with other operational teams to deliver water treatment, network operations and maintenance objectives.
- Maintain the physical capability and certifications required to perform operational field duties, including manual handling, confined space entry and other role‑specific requirements.
Qualifications
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment and distribution systems.
- Experience in the construction, operation and maintenance of water network systems.
- Proficiency in handling chlorine gas (desirable).
- Experience in using a Windows mobile computing device.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve operational targets.
- A valid driver’s licence and availability for after‑hours service, including weekends and public holidays in accordance with the on‑call roster.
- Demonstrated safety experience and working knowledge of the WHS Act 2020 and WHS (General) Regulations 2022.
- Plumbing qualification and experience with water treatment operations (desirable).
