We are seeking a Senior Intelligence Officer to assist with the collection, management, analysis and reporting of compliance information for the Reef Joint Field Management compliance program. A key function of the role will be to engage with Reef Joint Field Management Program and partner agency field staff to develop reciprocal information sharing relationships. The Senior Intelligence Officer will also be required to use multiple information management systems, undertake data analysis, and produce intelligence products as required.

The position is part of the compliance program within the Reef Joint Field Management Program for the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, which is jointly funded and managed by the Australian and Queensland Governments. The compliance program undertakes key functions including investigation and field operations within the World Heritage Area. Field activities are delivered across the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (Commonwealth, including Commonwealth islands), the Excellent Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park (State) and island national parks (State), which together comprise the World Heritage Area.

The Senior Intelligence Officer plays an important role in protecting the values and integrity of the World Heritage Area through the application of best practice compliance management to meet objectives and legislative obligations

The key duties of the position include:

What you'll do

- Undertake research, analysis, integration and the evaluation of compliance information and data, relating to activities within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, including commercial and recreational fishing, marine industries, tourism and other regulated uses.
- Assist in trend and pattern analysis to inform compliance planning and intelligence.
- Assist in the population, use, interrogation and management of case management databases, geospatial platforms and other information management systems.
- Prepare intelligence products, briefing materials, reports, visualisations and other analytical outputs to support compliance operations, investigations and management decisions.




- Develop and nurture internal and external stakeholder relationships to enhance the effectiveness of collecting and sharing information in support of the Reef Joint Field Management Program’s strategic priorities.

Eligibility

Employment with the Reef Authority is subject to:

- Conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999.
- Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) granting a security clearance at the required level.
- Evidence of citizenship status.
- Evidence of qualifications required of the role.
- Evidence of a completed national police-check with no risks identified by the Reef Authority.
- The CEO of the Reef Authority, or their Delegate, approving a Notice of Engagement.
- The Australian Government Security Clearance Application Guide Book provides information on minimum eligibility requirements for holding a security clearance at the required level.
