About the Role

The Structural Heart Clinical Nurse Consultant coordinates the structural heart program including transcatheter aortic valve implantation, transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair, PFO/ASD and LAA closure, and related procedures. Responsible for overseeing timely screening and preparation of referred patients, planning and scheduling procedures, ensuring patient, multidisciplinary team, and devices are available. Primary point of contact for patients, the multidisciplinary team, and industry support teams. Provide education, monitor peri- and post-procedural outcomes, and complete patient follow up.

Responsibilities

- Coordinate the structural heart program and related procedures (TAVI, Mitral edge-to-edge, PFO/ASD, LAA closure).
- Oversee screening and preparation of referred patients; assist in planning and scheduling of procedures.
- Serve as primary point of contact for patients, multidisciplinary team, and industry partners.
- Provide patient education and monitor peri- and post-procedural outcomes; complete follow-up.
- Contribute to perioperative workflow and ensure devices and resources are available.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor of Nursing with current AHPRA registration.
- Postgraduate certificate (or higher) in Cardiac or Critical Care Nursing.
- Commitment to delivering excellent clinical care.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment to facilitate team outcomes.




- Ability to work autonomously and within a team.

About Cardiac Investigation Unit

Situated at St Vincent’s Fitzroy campus, the Structural Heart Clinical Nurse Consultant will work across inpatient and outpatient settings. The Cardiac Investigation Unit includes two Cardiac Catheter Laboratories, multipurpose clinical spaces and shared office/administration areas. 4 West is an acute inpatient ward with 6 Coronary Care beds and 12 general Cardiology beds. Heart Centre and Specialist clinics are outpatient departments offering multidisciplinary structural heart clinics.
