Role
An education support class position at this range will carry out tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy under supervision and direction. Responsibilities may include coordination of other support staff and assisting teachers in programmes, with an emphasis on support rather than teaching duties.
Responsibilities
- Provide routine support for teachers including help with planning student routines.
- Support communication between teachers and parents.
- Assist with basic physical care and wellbeing support for students (toileting, meals, lifting).
- Support students in comprehension of basic tasks and information.
- Address immediate behavioural presentations aligned to school policy.
- Supervise up to four students in classroom settings.
- Assist teachers with coordination of educational programmes, rostering and organising support staff.
- Provide medical intervention support where trained.
- Provide specialised communication support such as AUSLAN and braille.
