Waste & Recycling Attendant

Part-time (22 hours per week) and Casual position available at Malvern location.

About the Role

As a Waste & Recycling Attendant at Cabrini Health, you will assist with the daily transportation of waste and recycling bins, as well as the maintenance of the central waste facility and waste holding areas. The position is essential in minimising the risk of infection, optimising staff experience and aligning with the environmental footprint.

Permanent part‑time role will generally be Monday‑Friday, with occasional weekends. Shifts are across AM and PM hours (8AM‑5PM or 3PM‑11PM). For the Casual position we are seeking flexibility to work a range of shifts throughout the week.

Key Responsibilities

- Work efficiently and collaboratively with the Domestic Services team and the Contracted Services Coordinator.
- Daily management of waste transportation across the hospital within the stipulated guidelines and frameworks and as requested.
- Segregate various recycling streams such as cardboard, PVC, sterile wraps, bottle tops and batteries.
- Operate all machinery and transportation equipment in a safe and secure manner.
- Manage the waste bins within the waste holding areas at Cabrini Malvern in a safe and secure manner.

About you – Qualifications & Requirements

- Previous experience in waste management (desirable).
- Comfortable with heavy lifting and working on your feet for long periods.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision,



but with high levels of respect for others and the working environment.
- Good communication skills and a team player.
- Basic knowledge of OHS management requirements.
- Mandatory background checks: professional references, National Police Check, annual Influenza vaccination and Working with Children Check (WWCC); COVID‑19 vaccination highly recommended.
