Project Overview
The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of 3 new bucket-wheel reclaimers including associated structural, mechanical, electrical and communications services. The Project also includes the design and construction of associated off-board scope including bulk earthworks, civil infrastructure, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the functionally safe operation of the new reclaimers.
Job Summary
In this role, you will perform cost estimating, analysis, control activities, schedule development, maintenance, reporting and monitoring activities and oversee the upkeep of the detailed project risk register. You will assist in preparing cost/schedule data for proposals and present at stakeholder meetings. Your work ensures projects stay on track, on budget, and ahead of the competition.
Major Responsibilities
- Performs cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed
- Performs schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities, as directed
- Assists in preparing cost/schedule data for proposals or contracts
- Assists in the development and support of project trend program
- Assists with budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
- Gathers and verifies data on schedule, work force, and quantities to update and status discipline or specialty progress and performance reports
- Assists with developing and maintaining scope-specific schedules for easy integration into the total project plan following established project procedures/practices
- Assists with developing discipline level work logics in support of overall project schedule
- Assists with reporting progress relative to established milestones for total project or major portions of the project
- Assists the Project Risk Specialist or Project Risk Manager in the preparation of risk analysis recommendations, reports, metrics, and presentations
Education and Experience Requirements
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced Power BI development, including data modelling, DAX, report development, workspace administration, semantic models, and dashboard publishing.
- Strong SQL skills, including query writing, data extraction, joins, aggregations, views, CTEs, and data validation.
- Advanced Power Query (M) experience for data transformation, cleansing, merging, and automation of reporting processes. Experience integrating data from multiple sources such as SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and other business applications.
- Strong understanding of data modelling principles, including star schema design, fact and dimension tables, relationships, and performance optimisation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, lookup functions, Pivot Tables, and structured reporting.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting reporting solutions, data refreshes, user access, and data quality issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate business requirements into reporting solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- The successful candidate should be capable of independently developing, maintaining, troubleshooting,
and enhancing enterprise Power BI reporting solutions with minimal technical supervision.
Key Qualification Factors (3-5)
- Power BI Expertise
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining complex Power BI solutions, including semantic models, DAX measures, Power Query transformations, report security, and workspace administration.
- SQL and Data Management Experience
- Strong practical experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries and working with data sourced from multiple business systems, databases, and repositories.
- Reporting and Analytics Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, data analytics, project controls reporting, or a similar data-focused role.
- Data Integration and Automation Skills
- Experience integrating data from sources such as SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent systems, and improving reporting efficiency through automation.
- Project Controls / EPCM Industry Experience (Preferred)
- Experience supporting engineering, construction, infrastructure, mining, energy, or project-based organizations, with exposure to cost, commitment, procurement, schedule, trend, or HSE reporting.
