About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Barista to join the team at GQ Cafe in Pemulwuy, NSW. This is a full-time position where you will be at the heart of our café operations, crafting exceptional coffee drinks and creating memorable experiences for our customers. As a Barista, you will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards GQ Cafe is known for, ensuring every cup served reflects our commitment to quality and excellence.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites and specialty coffee drinks

- Operate and maintain espresso machines and other café equipment to ensure optimal performance and hygiene standards

- Take customer orders and provide knowledgeable recommendations about our coffee range and menu offerings

- Maintain a clean and organised work station, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times

- Build positive relationships with customers, delivering exceptional service and creating a welcoming atmosphere

- Stock and manage supplies behind the counter, monitoring inventory levels

- Collaborate with team members to ensure productive café operations during busy periods

- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and securely

- Contribute to the café's visual appeal by maintaining product displays and overall presentation standards

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar café role, ideally with certification in espresso-based coffee preparation

- Strong knowledge of coffee varieties, origins, brewing methods and flavour profiles

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality beverages

- Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to engage with diverse customers in a friendly and professional manner





- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple orders simultaneously

- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift items up to 20kg regularly

- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues

- Basic food safety and hygiene knowledge, with willingness to maintain certification where required

- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied shifts including early mornings, late afternoons and weekends

- A passion for coffee and genuine enthusiasm for delivering excellent customer experiences
