About the role

We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join the Wild Mango Cafe team on a full time basis in Kununurra, WA. As Chef, you will be at the heart of our kitchen operations, responsible for creating delicious, consistently high-quality dishes that delight our customers. This is an integral role that directly impacts the reputation and success of our cafe, requiring someone with strong technical skills, creative flair, and a commitment to culinary excellence. You will work on-site at our Kununurra location, where you'll contribute to our dynamic hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes, plating standards and cafe specifications

- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene in all kitchen operations

- Manage kitchen stock, including ordering, receiving and storing ingredients appropriately

- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service during busy periods

- Develop and create new menu items and specials that reflect seasonal produce and customer preferences

- Ensure all food preparation complies with health and safety regulations and cafe policies

- Monitor portion control and manage food costs to support profitability

- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment

- Support training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff as required

- Respond to customer feedback and adapt dishes to meet dining requirements and dietary needs

What we're looking for





- Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen, ideally within a cafe or similar hospitality setting

- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and culinary practices

- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and relevant regulations

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality and consistency

- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask

- Creative flair and passion for developing interesting menu items and presentations

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a collaborative approach to kitchen culture

- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards

- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons and potential weekend work

- A relevant culinary qualification or formal training is desirable

- Experience working with local and seasonal ingredients is a valued advantage

- Willingness to relocate to or already residing in the Kununurra area
