About the roles

We are looking for passionate and dedicated midwives to join our low risk Caseload Midwifery team. Caseload midwifery has now been at the womens since 2007 and our homebirth program commenced in 2023.

Caseload Midwives must value family centred care and work closely with their team, have positive communication skills, and value teamwork to ultimately provide exceptional midwifery care.

A full time Caseload Midwife will care for up to 45 of women per year, as well as providing back-up and support for the other midwives within the caseload team. Within Caseload Midwifery, care is provided in antenatal clinic, during labour and birth, postnatal care on the postnatal ward and at home, and this role would also include administrative tasks.

This position involves a large degree of autonomy and has periods of work that are scheduled and unscheduled and requires a commitment to being on-call accross all times of day to provide the best possible continuity of care.

In saying this, the health and welfare of our midwives is vital and the on call roster will be built to ensure protection of your off call days and maintaining essential work life balance.

We are seeking motivated midwives with relevant clinical skills and a commitment to provide outstanding midwifery support to women, babies and their families to join our team.

Your duties will include:

- Manage assigned caseload of women in an on call capacity within a midwifery scope of practice
- Respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of women and significant others in the provision of culturally sensitive midwifery care.
- Working closely within a cohesive caseload group as part of Maternity Services team.
- Work closely with women, babies and families to meet their needs across the continuum to provide women-centred/ family centred care.




- Complete assessment of the health status of caseload women by interview and observation.
- Is open and approachable and able to act as a resource to all staff.
- Is committed to a multidisciplinary team approach and values / supports collaboration by a range of professionals in providing care to meet the individual needs of women.
- Role models professional behaviour and clinical excellence within the caseload team and within maternity services.
- Is an advocate for homebirth within caseload and/or is willing to train in homebirth
- Provide evidence based care.
- Assess, plan, develop, implement, document and evaluate midwifery and neonatal care in partnership with the women and other health care professionals.
- Provide health education for women, families, and other family supports.

About you

To be successful within this role you'll bring the following skills and experience:

- Providing care across the continuum of midwifery care including routine antenatal visits, antenatal assessment and triage, intra-partum and postnatal care
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated understanding of the social determinants of health
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of midwifery case in a continuity of carer model, of which focuses on the woman and her family
- Have experience in IVC insertion, applying Fetal Scalp Electrodes (FSE), performing ARMs and examination of the newborn
- Experience with water birth and perineal suturing (or willingness to achieve within 12 months of commencement)

You'll also need to have:

- Registration with AHPRA as a Midwife
- Relevant clinical midwifery experience across the continuum of midwifery care
- Commitment to providing care from a Caseload and Team Care philosophy and understanding and acceptance of the rostering and on call arrangements related to the Caseload model
- Willingness to participate in quality and/or research projects to improve the standard of midwifery care
- The ability to travel to all women within your care, and the hospital,



as required
