Position Overview: Disability Support Worker
We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Disability Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our clients with daily routines, social participation, and overall wellbeing while upholding the highest standards of person-centred care.
Location: Greensborough, VIC
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 + Superannuation
Employment Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide respectful and personalised assistance with daily living activities including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including safe transfers and use of mobility aids.
- Assist with domestic duties such as laundry, vacuuming, and general tidying to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals aligned with client dietary needs.
- Offer social and emotional support, helping to build confidence, companionship, and a sense of connection.
- Plan and accompany clients to recreational activities, medical appointments, or community events to encourage participation and engagement.
- Undertake grocery shopping and complete errands on behalf of or alongside clients.
- Monitor client’s wellbeing and promptly report any health or behavioural concerns to the management team.
- Encourage and promote independence while helping where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and reports in compliance with organisational procedures.
- Support the development and implementation of client-focused care plans in collaboration with case managers and health professionals.
- Adapt services to accommodate each client’s cultural, linguistic, and personal preferences.
- Actively contributes to a positive and safe work environment by following policies, procedures, and work health and safety guidelines.
- Liaise effectively with families, guardians, and external service providers to ensure holistic care delivery.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in disability, aged care, or community service.
- Certificate IV in Disability Studies or a closely related field (essential).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (essential).
- Valid VIC Driver’s Licence and access to a roadworthy, insured vehicle.
- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Demonstrated understanding of the Disability Act and person-centred care principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
