An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Children's Critical Care Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

About the role

Provide clinical specialist Children's Critical Care support to the Children's Critical Care Unit, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient centered clinical practice. Work collaboratively across departments (particularly with Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Surgery and Level 6 Paediatric Intensive Care Services from other Hospital and Health Services) to facilitate and improve the care of paediatric patients.

Requirements for the role

Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B.
Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FCICM or equivalent acceptable to the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand and registrable as an Intensive Care Medicine specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Certified copies of relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
Strong clinical and teaching experience in Intensive Care is desirable.
Appropriate training/fellowship within a Paediatric Intensive Care setting is desirable.




The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for the Children's Critical Care Unit.

Salary information

Temporary part time (64 hours per fortnight, 3 years)
Senior Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $127.23 - $134.90 p.h
Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $106.39 - $123.58 p.h
Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
