The role is accountable for ensuring effective work order management and department performance to achieve WesTrac’s targets of productivity and compliance to Caterpillar, customer and WesTrac requirements.
Location: Perth Precinct
Roster: 9 days on 5 days off 11.5 hours a day (including meal break)
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a highly capable and engaged team of technicians, fostering strong performance, collaboration, and consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Lead by example, demonstrating organisational values and visible safety leadership to ensure protected, productive work practices.
- Drive team performance by setting clear expectations, assigning work, monitoring progress and holding people accountable.
- Adapt to change by communicating plans clearly, allocating resources effectively and ensuring consistent delivery.
- Apply strategic thinking to minimise operational impacts on the environment and community.
- Demonstrate strong commercial, technical and customer focus by meeting budget requirements, coordinating customer needs end‑to‑end and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships.
Requirements for the role:
- Heavy Diesel Mechanic Trade or similar discipline
- 2+ years supervision experience in a similar position (diploma certified preferred)
- Direct experience in heavy mobile equipment (Caterpillar preferred) maintenance and OH&S; and risk assessment requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to give clear direction in high‑risk environments
- Proven organisational capability and experience managing competing priorities in dynamic settings
- Advanced analytical, troubleshooting and continuous‑improvement skills
- Demonstrated ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and exceed customer expectations
