Role: Regional Aboriginal Development Officer

Employment type: Fixed term to 30 June 2027

Time fraction: 0.8 (30 hours per week)

Salary: $48.13 per hour / $95,108.00 pro rata

We're looking for someone who is passionate about working alongside Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), community organisations and service providers to strengthen culturally responsive care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

You'll work across the Grampians and Barwon South Western regions, supporting organisations funded through the Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC PYP) and Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) to navigate change, strengthen capability, respond to quality and regulatory requirements, and improve access to culturally safe services.

No two days are the same. One day you might be facilitating a regional network meeting, the next you're supporting an organisation through funding changes, building partnerships between services, planning a new project or helping shape conversations about Aboriginal aged care and disability services.

About you

This is a role where you'll need to bring relevant sector experience and be comfortable getting across the work quickly.

You'll understand the environment our funded organisations are working within, including the realities of delivering aged care and community services within funding, quality and regulatory requirements.

Just as importantly, you'll know that strong services aren't built through compliance alone. You'll be able to take that knowledge and use it practically, working alongside organisations to build capability, navigate change and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

You'll bring:

- working knowledge of aged care standards and the broader aged care service workplace
- experience working with quality, accreditation or audit frameworks, with an understanding of how these translate into service delivery
- experience building trusted relationships with Aboriginal communities, ACCOs or community organisations
- experience in community development, Aboriginal health, aged care, disability, human services or sector development
- robust project coordination and organisational skills
- confidence facilitating meetings, workshops or networks
- the ability to influence, engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- excellent communication skills, with the ability to make complex requirements practical and accessible
- sound judgement, initiative and the ability to work autonomously
- a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
