Chef de Partie — Niagara Café, Gundagai NSW
Niagara Café, a landmark on the Hume Highway serving travellers and the Gundagai community since 1902, is seeking an experienced Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team.
About the role
Reporting to the Head Chef, the Chef de Partie is a key member of our kitchen brigade. You'll prepare and present dishes to a consistently high standard, lead sections during busy service periods, and help drive the ongoing evolution of our menu.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and present meals to a consistently high standard across all sections
- Lead and run busy kitchen shifts as required over breakfast, lunch and dinner services as the business requires
- Monitor and maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety compliance (FSANZ standards, allergen management)
- Manage inventory, including ordering and stock rotation
- Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff
- Collaborate with front-of-house to ensure seamless service
- Adapt recipes to cater for dietary requirements and Australia's 11 mandatory allergen declarations
- Contribute to menu planning, including seasonal updates
- Monitor food costs and support kitchen profitability
- Uphold WHS and food safety guidelines at all times
Skills and experience required
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chef de Partie or equivalent senior kitchen role
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
- Demonstrated experience across a range of cuisines
- Proven ability to lead a station during busy service
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Sound knowledge of food safety, allergen management, and kitchen hygiene standards
- Experience with menu development and adapting dishes for dietary requirements
- Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) preferred
Position Details: Full-time Position
- Location: Niagara Café, Sheridan Street, Gundagai NSW 2722
- Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum (based on experience), plus 12% superannuation
