Loreto Kirribilli is a leading independent Catholic school for girls, located on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director to lead the artistic vision for our 2027 School Musical. This contract opportunity is ideal for a creative theatre professional who enjoys working with young performers and is committed to delivering an outstanding production in a collaborative school workplace.

Working alongside the Producer, Musical Director and Choreographer, you will guide students through the creative process, helping them develop their acting skills, confidence and stage presence while bringing a memorable musical production to life.

About the role

As Director, you will:

- Develop and communicate the artistic vision for the production.
- Block scenes to support storytelling, character development and stage movement.
- Coach students using age-appropriate acting techniques.
- Plan and lead engaging, well-organised rehearsals.
- Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive rehearsal environment.
- Collaborate closely with the Musical Director, Choreographer and Producer to ensure a cohesive production.
- Work with the production team to integrate lighting, sound, costumes and set design.

About You

You will be an experienced theatre practitioner with a passion for musical theatre and working with young people.



You will also demonstrate:

- Experience directing or choreographing musical theatre productions.
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to motivate and inspire students of varying experience levels.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a creative team.
- A commitment to creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Flexibility to work within the rehearsal and performance schedule.

Production Schedule

Rehearsals are held after school on Tuesdays and Fridays, with some Sunday rehearsals as required.

Key dates include:

- Auditions: August 2026
- Rehearsals: September – November 2026
- Rehearsal Intensive: Commencing 21 January 2027
- Performances: 24–26 February 2027 at Loreto Kirribilli
