About the Role:
The College is currently seeking a casual, multi-talented Learn to Swim Instructor offering between 15-25 hours per week.
The Learn to Swim Instructor is responsible for delivering quality, engaging and educational learn to swim lessons to clients, ensuring programs are protected and are professionally delivered in accordance with program requirements whilst ensuring high levels of customer service are maintained. This position reports to the Learn to Swim School Coordinator for all day-to-day activities and works closely with the Pool Lifeguard on duty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct learn to swim lessons suitable to the level being taught and in-line with program expectations that are high quality, safe, fun, engaging and effective;
- Enhance water safety knowledge of students;
- Provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students;
- Assist the Learn to Swim School Coordinator where appropriate, with the development of new and existing swim programs;
- Set up and pack up equipment and other materials in preparation for lessons;
- Accurately evaluate students, in conjunction with Learn to Swim School Coordinator against set criteria;
- Participate in covering roster to facilitate other swim instructor absences;
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all policies and procedures and perform all activities as per these policies and procedures;
- Ensure all qualifications remain up to date;
- Perform any other duties as required by the Learn to Swim School Coordinator within the limits of skill, competencies and training.
Essential Qualifications:
- Current Working with Children Blue Card or ability to obtain one
- Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety / Austswim Licence
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Teacher of Babies and Toddlers (desirable)
- Teacher of Learners with a Disability (desirable)
