About the School:

Queensland Education and Training Centre is a multi-campus, Department of Education school operating within South-East Queensland's Youth Detention Centres at Wacol. QETC multiple campuses cater to male and female students from across the state who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offences. The school plays an important role in the community by providing young people in detention with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and values that can enhance their capacity to pursue positive choices in the future.

QETC campuses deliver education over 48 weeks of the year, providing an excellent opportunity for flexible leave arrangements.

Your Role:

The successful applicant will manage administration and support staff teams across multiple campuses, and there may be requirements to move between campuses at required times. In this role, you will provide strategic human resource advice, analysis and planning support to the Executive Principal, heads of Campus and the wider school community.

As the Business Manager - Human Resources, you will have responsibility for but not limited to the following:

Demonstrate considerable autonomy and play an important role in providing advice that dictates business service delivery outcomes, inspires change and models best practices. Manage conflicting priorities to ensure strategic and sustainable business service outcomes.
Lead the delivery of a breadth of human resource activities including recruitment, induction, training, vacancy processing, skill gap analysis, performance management, workforce planning, and rehabilitation processes.
Undertake the day-to-day supervision and management of the parent campus's school support staff,



including monitoring workloads and employee performance.
Provide support and leadership in the provision of a range of executive and administrative support services (e.g. manage multiple tasks and diverse/multidisciplinary work groups with conflicting priorities and timeframes; interpret departmental policies and oversee training and professional development for school support staff) and recommend and implement changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of those processes and work practices.
Contribute to the decision-making/ activities of the school management team, particularly with regard to providing input about human resource issues and the effective and effective provision of corporate services to support school operations.
Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the Executive Principal or nominated delegate.

This role assumes a high level of managerial and interpersonal expertise, including a significant level of leadership, the ability to consult, delegate, analyse and plan in specific contexts within the school community.
