Where you'll be working
Westmead Hospital is a major teaching and tertiary referral hospital within Western Sydney Local Health District. Blacktown is the other public hospital providing urological services within the WSLHD. Westmead Private Hospital is a private facility providing urological services. There is a full range of services including renal transplant surgery.

The urological service includes inpatient beds and surgical procedures including laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, laser prostate and stone procedures. There are outpatient facilities in general urology, stone disease, functional urology and urodynamics.

There is interventional radiology available as well as advanced imaging for urology diseases.

The urology provisional fellow will be involved in inpatient and outpatient activities. The position provides exposure to urological diseases and procedures and may enhance the appointee’s prospects for appointment to a training post. He/ She will participate in Department audit and research activities. They will be under supervision of consultants at all times.

What you'll be doing
Manage admitted urological patients in pre-operative assessment, assist at surgical procedures and manage patients postoperatively at all sites noted under location. Manage urological patients attending outpatients under supervision of urological consultants.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completed FRACS Urology fellowship examination or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices that support credentialing to the position and are commensurate with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Sound clinical knowledge in Urology surgery demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an workplace appropriate to the requirements of the position.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence based best practice. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research.
- Subspecialty interest or expertise appropriate to the needs of the Dept. Interest or experience in Urological surgery.
- Demonstrated participation in the supervision of junior medical staff.
