FIFO Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic – Far North Queensland

$50–$70 per hour | Flights, Accommodation and Meals Provided | Ongoing Work

ZK Construction Group is seeking a qualified Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our remote maintenance team working throughout the Northern Peninsula Area, Cape York and Torres Strait.

The role includes servicing, repairs, fault finding, installations and replacement works across residential housing, government buildings, commercial facilities and community infrastructure.

This position is suited to an experienced tradesperson who can work independently, diagnose faults efficiently and maintain a high standard of workmanship in remote environments.

Main Duties

- Service and repair split-system and commercial air conditioning units
- Diagnose refrigeration and electrical faults
- Install and replace air conditioning systems and components
- Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance
- Repair or replace compressors, motors, fans,



controls and associated equipment
- Perform system testing, commissioning and compliance checks
- Complete job cards, photographs, service reports and site documentation
- Work across residential, commercial and government properties

Required Qualifications and Experience

- Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
- Current Refrigerant Handling Licence
- Relevant trade licence and electrical disconnect/reconnect qualification where required
- White Card
- Experience in maintenance, servicing, installations or refurbishment projects
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work safely with minimal supervision
- Reliable, adaptable and comfortable working in remote locations
- Previous FIFO or remote-community experience is preferred but not essential

Location and Roster

Work is carried out across remote Indigenous communities throughout Far North Queensland, including Cape York and the Torres Strait region.

Roster arrangements may vary depending on project requirements and the applicant’s location.
