About NOPSEMA
The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.
NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

Who we are looking for
We are seeking existing ongoing APS employees (from APS3 to EL2) who are interested in a temporary or permanent transfer to NOPSEMA, in our Perth and Melbourne offices.
Applicants are encouraged to express their interest in potential permanent (ongoing) and temporary (non-ongoing) transfer opportunities under section 26 of the Public Service Act 1999.
NOPSEMA uses the register to access appropriately skilled and experienced individuals to contribute to the agency’s work across a broad range of expertise in various teams, in the following divisions:
- Regulatory Operations
- Strategic Regulation and Improvement
- Offshore Renewables
- Legal and Governance
- Strategic Communications and Engagement
- Corporate and Business Transformation

Eligibility
- Employment with the agency is governed by the conditions outlined in the Public Service Act 1999. Applicants must be an ongoing (permanent)
APS employee at classification level between Australian Public Service Level 3 and Executive Level 2.
- You must be an Australian citizen.
- You may be required to undertake pre-employment checks, including health, character, and declaration of any real or perceived conflicts of interest.
- You must satisfy any mandatory qualification/certification/licence requirements or security assessment applicable for the position.
- NOPSEMA staff are prohibited from trading in oil and gas resources and / or offshore renewable electricity sector shares.
- If you have been notified that you have alleged to have breached the APS code of conduct, any movement will be deferred until the suspected misconduct action has been resolved.
- The date of effect (and duration) of the ongoing or temporary section 26 transfer must be agreed to by all parties (Agency Head of original Agency, Agency Head of the new Agency and employee).
