Primary objective
Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective inpatient and outpatient Occupational Therapy services within Top End
Health Region

Context statement
NT Health provides integrated allied health services in a variety of service settings including acute and sub-acute care, primary
health care, aged care and mental health. Currently seeking applicants in the following areas of Rehabilitation. This position will
require the applicant to work within an extended hours service model, which includes weekends. It also offers the opportunity to
rotate across sites within acute and sub-acute services.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate Occupational Therapy services under supervision within a multidisciplinary

framework.
2. Participate in professional development under guidance and research.
3. Provide clinical supervision and/or support to students and relevant staff as appropriate.
4. Manage a caseload within an ever changing work environment to ensure time lines and health outcomes are met.
5. Participate in continuous quality improvement and service development activities at a local level to ensure delivery of

contemporary Occupational Therapy services
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
7. Foster a positive workplace culture through professional work practices and role modelling behaviour

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant qualifications in Occupational Therapy that meets membership eligibility requirements of Occupational Therapy

Australia, and registration for practice with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
2.



Ability to develop clinical Occupational Therapy skills providing a clinical service to patients and families/carers
3. Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with patients and

families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
4. Developed communication, interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, with experience working in a team environment to

achieve positive health outcomes.
5. Ability to efficiently and effectively manage a patient caseload and a demonstrated a commitment to career development.
6. Hold a current Northern Territory (NT) driver’s licence or the ability to obtain.

criminal history check. A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to the position. This

7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

4. Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience working in a

team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical supervision of students and/or staff and a commitment to professional development.
6. Proven ability to implement and complete continuous quality improvement and service development activities.
7. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage a high volume workload.

Desirable
1. Post-graduate qualifications or experience in clinical education, leadership/management or speciality practice area.
