Masala Bite is seeking an experienced Chef to take a leading role in our kitchen. The successful applicant will bring flair, consistency and robust kitchen leadership to our authentic Indian menu, and will help drive quality and efficiency across the section.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Plan, prepare and cook high-quality dishes across the menu, maintaining flavour, quality and presentation standards;
- Develop and refine menu items, specials and recipes in consultation with management;
- Supervise, train and coordinate cooks and kitchen staff during service;
- Manage food preparation workflow, portion control and consistency across the kitchen;
- Oversee stock control, ordering, rotation and minimisation of wastage;
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and WHS standards at all times; and
- Monitor kitchen equipment and coordinate maintenance and cleaning schedules.

Skills and experience required





- A relevant trade qualification in commercial cookery (AQF Certificate III/IV) or equivalent, and recognised chef-level experience;
- Substantial experience as a chef (e.g. chef de partie, sous chef or equivalent), ideally in Indian or comparable cuisine;
- Proven ability to lead, train and coordinate kitchen staff;
- Strong knowledge of food costing, stock control, menu development and kitchen operations;
- Thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene and WHS obligations;
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis; and
- Working rights in Australia (or eligibility to be sponsored).

Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
