We are seeking a highly technical, shop-floor Production Manager to oversee our synthetic turf tufting and backing operations in Sydney. This is an 80% floor-based role. You will be responsible for transforming imported or raw yarn into premium finished turf. You will lead shift teams, optimize machine efficiency, and take a hands-on approach to troubleshooting complex textile machinery, pattern setups, and chemical backing lines.

Key Responsibilities

- Tufting & Backing Performance: Manage daily production schedules to maximize throughput across multi-gauge tufting creels, secondary backing coaters, and curing ovens.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting: Lead floor-level mechanical setups, pile height adjustments, and rapid stitch-rate changeovers.
- Chemical & Curing Control: Oversee the precise application and curing of latex backing compounds. Ensure exact temperature controls to guarantee optimal tuft bind and dimensional stability.
- Waste & OEE Optimization: Monitor and reduce yarn scrap and compound giveaway while driving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and roster a dedicated team of tufting operators, backing line workers, and supervisors.

Maintain NSW Workplace Health & Safety standards. Safely manage chemical storage, heavy roll handling, and high-temperature machinery zones.

Required Experience & Qualifications

- Targeted Industry Experience: 3+ years managing production in artificial turf tufting, commercial carpet manufacturing, or heavy industrial textile mills.
- Machinery Mastery: Proven, practical experience operating and maintaining wide-gauge tufting machinery, continuous backing lines, and industrial drying ovens.
- True "Hands-On" Ethos: A background that includes personal hands-on experience... you prefer the shop floor to an office chair.
- Quality Focus: Understanding of textile materials, tuft bind, water permeability, and backing adhesion.

Leadership Style: A firm, explicit communicator capable of driving accountability and safety culture in a manufacturing environment.

Pay: $71,010.89 – $132,374.59 per year
