Primary objective
The Cyclotron Production Manager, in close coordination with the Cyclotron Operations and Quality Manager and the NT Health Positron
Emission Tomography (PET) service, is responsible for the ongoing management of the Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) cyclotron facility’s
production equipment and associated Quality Assurance. The Cyclotron Production Manager provides technical leadership and guidance,
overseeing planning and development of the cyclotron facility’s production equipment for future changes in clinical radiopharmaceutical
production and research requirements.

Context statement




The Cyclotron Production Manager will work under the clinical and scientific guidance of Cyclotron Operations and Quality Manager and
the PET/CT unit to provide a high quality service for patients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage the cyclotron facility’s production equipment to ensure a continued high quality service of providing radiopharmaceuticals to

the PET service of the RDH.
2. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), staff training and ongoing Quality Assurance (QA) programs for

cyclotron and radiopharmaceutical synthesis operations.
3. Lead the cyclotron facility validation, compliance and QA programs to ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are adhered to

and high quality radiopharmaceutical production is carried out.
4. Coordinate the radiation monitoring, equipment maintenance and repair schedules of the cyclotron facility with stakeholders.
5. Guide and assist team members involved in cyclotron operations and manufacture of radiopharmaceutical products.
6. Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the cyclotron production service delivery in close collaboration with Cyclotron Operations

and Quality Manager and RDH PET clinical team for continual improvement.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Tertiary qualification in engineering, physical or biological science.
2.



Demonstrated experience in operational management, working and maintenance of a cyclotron facility in a clinical setting.
3. Demonstrated ability to produce isotopes from liquid targets, synthesising fluorine-18 based radiopharmaceuticals and performing

quality control on radiopharmaceutical products.
4. Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining cyclotron facility equipment.
5. Demonstrated experience with QA and Continual Quality Improvement programs and documentation.
6. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in collaboration with a clinically led team.
7. High level written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable
1. Experience with the IBA Synthera+ and iPhase MultiSyn synthesisers, TEMA Sinergie hot cells including Grade-A dispensers and IBA

Kiube cyclotrons or equivalence to these platforms.
2. Experience with manufacturing of gallium-68 compounds, alongside liquid target cyclotron production of fluorine-18 and gallium-68.
3. A robust research interest and experience.
4. Experience working in the Northern Territory or a similar regional/remote areas.
