Position overview
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consultant provides practical, risk-based work health and safety advice and support to leaders, staff and students across teaching, research and operational environments. Working within a precinct-based service delivery model, the role partners with local areas to strengthen safety capability, support effective risk management and promote compliance with legislative and University work health and safety requirements.
While this position will primarily support laboratory-based teaching and research environments, including higher-risk activities involving hazardous chemicals, equipment and specialised research processes, it also contributes to broader WHS initiatives across the University as required.
As a trusted consultant, you will provide guidance, coaching and assurance across a broad range of WHS activities, including risk management, incident management, consultation, capability development and continuous improvement. The role works collaboratively with local leaders and operational teams to support safe systems of work while recognising that operational responsibility for managing work activities remains with the relevant business areas.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of Australia's leading research universities, partnering with diverse stakeholders to enable safe, creative teaching and research.
