About the Role

W Advisory is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Chief Operating Officer to lead the operational engine of our fast-growing accounting practice. We are a technology-focused, Xero-first firm on an ambitious trajectory — and we are looking for a COO who has the drive and capability to help us double in size over the next two years.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operations across four office locations, managing a team of 28 staff, and partnering directly with the Director to execute our growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and drive the firm's growth roadmap — scaling revenue, headcount, and capability to achieve 2x growth within 24 months
- Oversee all operational functions across four office locations, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and service quality
- Lead, develop, and performance-manage a team of 28 staff including senior managers, accountants, and support personnel
- Champion the firm's technology-first culture — optimising Xero workflows, practice management systems, and automation tools to maximise team capacity
- Manage P&L; accountability, budgeting, and resource allocation in partnership with the Director
- Implement scalable processes and reporting frameworks that support rapid growth without sacrificing quality
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and team structure as the business scales
- Serve as the primary escalation point for client and operational issues across all locations

About You

- Qualifications: CA or CPA qualified (mandatory)
- Experience: Minimum 8–10 years in public practice accounting,



with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role within an accounting firm or professional services environment
- Proven track record managing a client fee portfolio or practice revenue of $5M–$15M, with demonstrated ability to retain, grow, and service clients at that scale
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams, with a track record of building high-performance cultures across multiple locations
- Deep familiarity with Xero and the broader cloud accounting technology stack
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site operations
- A proven growth operator — you have scaled a team, a practice, or a business before and know what it takes
- Robust commercial acumen with the ability to link operational efficiency to profit and revenue growth
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strategic thinker who can also roll up their sleeves and execute

Pay: $140,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
