We are seeking an experienced Plasterer to join the Precise Plaster team on a full-time basis across the suburbs of metropolitan Adelaide. You will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard. This role offers the opportunity to work with a qualified team, utilise your skilled trade expertise, and contribute to the continued success of our business.
Key responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair work on residential and commercial properties, including plastering, patching, and finishing tasks
- Prepare surfaces and line with plasterboard products, joint compound, and other finishing materials to achieve a professional finish
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and other team members to ensure project requirements are met
- Manage time efficiently to complete work within agreed timescales
- Reading and interpreting architectural drawings, plans, specifications and work instructions to determine plasterboard layouts, materials and installation requirements.
- Measuring, marking and cutting plasterboard, fibre cement sheets, acoustic panels and other wall and ceiling lining materials to the required dimensions.
- Lifting, positioning and securely fixing plasterboard sheets to timber or metal wall frames, ceiling battens, joists and other supporting structures.
- Constructing and installing plasterboard partitions, internal wall systems, suspended ceilings, bulkheads and decorative ceiling features.
- Installing fire-rated wall and ceiling systems, acoustic lining systems, thermal and acoustic insulation, vapour barriers and composite wall linings in accordance with project specifications.
- Setting out and installing metal ceiling grids, furring channels, tracks, studs, battens and other framing components required to support plasterboard systems.
- Preparing and installing internal and external corner beads, stopping angles, control joints,
shadow lines and other plasterboard finishing accessories.
- Applying jointing compounds, plaster and sealing materials to plasterboard joints, screw holes, corners and surface imperfections.
- Applying jointing tape and additional coats of compound, allowing surfaces to dry and sanding them to achieve a smooth and even finish ready for painting or decoration.
- Repairing damaged plasterboard walls and ceilings, including removing damaged sections, installing replacement materials and matching the repaired area with the existing surface.
- Checking walls, ceilings, partitions and finished surfaces for correct alignment, level, dimensions, stability and overall workmanship.
- Calculating material quantities and selecting suitable plasterboard, insulation, compounds, fasteners and accessories for each project.
- Operating and maintaining hand and power tools, including plasterboard lifters, drills, screw guns, cutting tools, sanders, levels and measuring equipment.
- Protecting surrounding surfaces, maintaining a clean and organised work area and removing construction waste upon completion of the work.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures, building codes, manufacturer specifications and applicable fire-rating and acoustic-system installation requirements.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working as a Plasterer in maintenance, plastering, or a related trade, ideally with several years of hands-on experience
- Robust knowledge of plastering techniques, materials, and finishes
- Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in maintenance and plastering work
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking direction and contributing to team success
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transport to travel between job sites
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to the construction and maintenance industry
- Communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and carry materials regularly
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (desirable)
