Adaptive Choice is currently seeking multiple Male Disability Support Workers to join our growing team in Tregear and Campbelltown.
This role involves supporting NDIS participants in Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes and within the community. You will work closely with participants to help them build independence, achieve their NDIS goals, and actively participate in everyday life.
Some participants present with complex behaviours of concern, including physical aggression. We are looking for resilient, calm, and confident support workers who can provide safe, person-centred support while following Behaviour Support Plans and organisational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties may include:
- Supporting participants to access the community and participate in social, recreational, educational and capacity-building activities
- Transporting participants to appointments, shopping centres, community facilities and social outings
- Encouraging independence, confidence, communication and daily living skills
- Assisting with meal preparation, household tasks, cleaning, laundry and home organisation
- Providing personal care and personal support where required and within your training
- Following participant support plans, Behaviour Support Plans, risk assessments and organisational policies
- Monitoring participant wellbeing and reporting incidents or concerns promptly
- Completing accurate shift notes, progress notes and incident reports
- Maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality and participant dignity
- Building positive relationships with participants, families, support coordinators and other stakeholders
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Holds a valid ABN or is willing to obtain one
- Physically fit and capable of safely supporting participants with complex behaviours
- Experienced working with participants who display challenging behaviours, including physical aggression (highly desirable)
- Calm, resilient and confident in responding to challenging situations
- Compassionate, respectful and committed to person-centred supports
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Passionate about empowering people with disability to achieve their goals
Previous experience in Disability Support, Aged Care, Community Services, Youth Work or Mental Health is highly regarded but not essential.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain:
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Reliable insured vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- Full working rights in Australia
Qualifications in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, Nursing, Allied Health, Psychology or a related field will be highly regarded.
