About You

You are a seasoned financial services regulatory lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' experience, bringing a strong track record from private practice or in-house roles within large organisations.

Your Experience & Expertise:

- Australian financial services regulatory experience
- Experience advising on regulatory matters affecting wholesale banking, institutional banking, global markets or capital markets activities
- Strong understanding of ASIC and APRA regulatory requirements applicable to foreign banks operating in Australia, including Australian branch and subsidiary structures
- Experience advising foreign authorised deposit-taking institutions or other regulated financial institutions on Australian prudential and banking obligations
- Knowledge of markets and securities regulation, including equities, equity derivatives, futures, clearing arrangements and market participant obligations
- Familiarity with the ASIC Market Integrity Rules, ASX Operating Rules, ASX or ASX Clear (Futures) Operating Rules and related market infrastructure requirements
- Experience advising on derivatives regulation including trade reporting, clearing obligations, margining requirements and regulatory reform
- Experience supporting regulatory change projects, including assessing new regulatory requirements, advising on impact and helping implement changes across legal, compliance, operations and business teams
- Experience assisting with regulatory engagement, including preparing notifications, responses, submissions or correspondence to ASIC, APRA or other Australian regulators
- Ability to monitor, interpret and assess Australian regulatory developments relevant to banking, markets, securities and derivatives activities

Skills & Attributes:





- Excellent understanding of Australian financial services regulation as it applies to wholesale banking and global markets
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, business-ready advice
- Strong regulatory judgement and the ability to assess whether incidents may constitute breaches of compliance obligations
- Robust drafting skills, including the ability to prepare clear incident reports, breach reports, compliance notices and regulator-facing correspondence
- Sound knowledge of financial services compliance and regulatory risk principles
- Ability to work efficiently through a high volume of incident assessments or overflow matters
- Confidence liaising with internal business teams, legal, compliance, risk and senior stakeholders

Requirements:

- Current Australian practising certificate
- Right to live and work in Australia
