Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service – Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC) is looking for two dedicated Aboriginal Family Wellbeing and Violence Prevention Workers to support Aboriginal people, families and communities across the Tamworth and Gunnedah LGAs.

This role focuses on preventing and responding to family violence, abuse and neglect through culturally safe, trauma-informed and community-led support. You will work with Victims/Survivors – women, men, children, young people, families and, where appropriate, people who use violence, with a strong focus on early intervention, healing, safety, wellbeing and connection to appropriate services.

You will work closely with community, local agencies and internal TAMS-AC teams to provide holistic support, strengthen referral pathways, and contribute to community education and prevention activities.

Essential Criteria

Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

Hold, or be willing to complete, the Certificate IV in Aboriginal Family Violence Work through ECAV, which involves travel for training over a 12 month period.

Demonstrated understanding of the impact of domestic, family and sexual violence on Aboriginal families and communities.

Ability to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed and confidential support.

Solid communication and relationship building skills with clients, community and service partners.

Understanding of confidentiality, documentation, duty of care, mandatory reporting and child-safe practice.

Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel for work.

Current Criminal History Check.

Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
